October Newsletter
From Lana
And so begins another season. It is always exciting to observe the season and weather change with the children. With Fall brings a few changes. Soccer has started and the children are having a great time.
As many of you know this is the time when we begin to observe and assess the children’s needs. We will from time to time be allowing children to visit the next step up in classrooms. We are developmental in our approach so we do not necessarily just move children to the next age group based on their birth date. We will be doing classroom visits on days when attendance is low so you may come to pick your child up and find them in another classroom. If the decision is made that the child may benefit more from an older classroom we will discuss this with you and get your input before the change is made.
REMINDERS:
Annual Registrations Fee–There are still a few parents who have not yet paid the annual registration fee. All parents need to do this unless you are a new family. If you have questions please feel free to come talk to me.
School pictures—October 7th will be picture day. If your child does not usually attend on Tuesdays you are welcome to either bring them and get photos done or you may add a day to your child’s week, just call and let me know so I can staff accordingly. Mr. Lapina will also be doing sibling groups if you would like. Group photos will also be done in each classroom; you will need to return the envelope with the $8.00 since these are printed only on an order basis.
October is fire safety month As part of our fire safety month we will have the Arvada Fire Department visit with their truck. Please take some time to talk to your child about this. Also please let us know if you think there is any reason they would be fearful of the firefighters, so we can give them a little extra support.
Halloween fun October 28th from 6:00 to 7:30. Once again this year we will host a Halloween party for the children and families. Last year this was one of the most attended and requested parties of the year. Parents and children are invited to wear costumes and come enjoy games lots of Halloween fun. Falling into Fall! The month of October will be spent learning about our feelings and our 3 rules for safety.
Elias and Liam are trying to talk and love to point at pictures in books as the teaher is reading. Luke and Shawna are really close to walking and love to interact with their friends. Townes is really getting around now and enjoying being able to crawl to get toys. William is really social and interested in how things go together. Everett’s last day will be October 3rd , he has been here since he was 3 months old, we have enjoyed watching him grow, we will miss his great personality and smiles. The colors for the month are: Orange, black and purple. Our songs for the month are: 5 little pumpkins, and snowflakes. The signs for the month are: circle, stop and help. Please make sure your child has weather appropriate clothes in their cubbies.

Welcome to October. We have many exciting and fun learning opportunities waiting for us this month. Our theme for this month is community helpers. Some of the community helpers we will study will be firefighters, police, doctors and mail carriers. We will continue to work on letters and numbers and do lots of fun art projects. Looking forward to a fun learning month.

September was a very productive month for us. Each week we are excited to introduce a new letter and add more words to our word wall. As we move into October we will continue introducing and adding. We have been working on our small motor skills i.e.: holding pencils, crayon, markers correctly (pincer crab sits on the rock) we will be working on our scissor skills during the month of October. Each week is a different theme which accompanies new vocabulary words, feelings and emotions.
Did I mention how much the children enjoyed our last month filled with fairytales?
I feel very blessed to work with these beautiful souls every day.
