February Newsletter
From Lana:
If it is February, spring must be right around the corner. I know the children are ready for some sunshine and more outdoor time.
As we are growing we are putting on more staff. We are fortunate to have found some terrific people. Sadly we will be saying goodbye to Ms. Moya. She has had an offer that is to good to pass up. Although we will miss her very much we are happy for her. She will continue to be with us each afternoon to close the center which we are thankful for. We will also be moving some staff to other classrooms. Krista is nearing the completion of her education to allow her to teach preschool which she is excited to start. Mariah is excited to return to the Toddler room. We feel this is necessary from time to time to keep classrooms fresh and introduce now ideas and excitement into each classroom. We have always been active in cross training so each teacher knows each child; the children will see very little change.
Some reminders: Please remember to let me know if you will be going on vacation or having a change in schedule. You may call me or send me an email; This helps me to staff appropriately.
Also remember you may always call me with questions, I am often in classrooms but I do check voice mail.
Infants: Miss Melanie
February is already here. This past month Elias and Everett have been sitting up by themselves and playing together They are growing so fast. Jaxson has been reaching for toys during tummy time, Luke has been doing great at holding up his head and looking around before we know it Elias and Everett will be crawling and Jaxson and Luke will be sitting up.
Songs for this month are “I love you” and “The more we play together”. This month’s sign is: I love you.
If you have not yet brought me a family photo please do so. I am trying to get a family wall up with all the families photos up. The kids love looking at them.
Toddlers 1: Ms. Vie
Our theme this month is “Love is in the air” We are enjoying our toddlers so much. As we enter the month of February we will be introducing the colors red and pink. We will be enjoying sensory activities as well as some painting with sponges, rollers, and scrubbers. And as usual we will just enjoy the interactions and watching the children interact with each other. We will celebrate Charlyanne’s and Payton’s birthday.
Toddler 2: Ms. Mariah
Welcome to February already! All the children are doing great and progressing with their potty training. We are so proud. They are also working toward social, emotional growth, working on the concepts of empathy and using kind words and actions. They are all doing well with name recognition and color recognition. This month we will explore more animals and how they can help people. We will continue to work on shapes and add a few new shapes. You can help with these concepts by pointing out colors and shapes in the environment.
Preschool: Ms. Krista
February will be another fun month, looking forward to spring. This month we will introduce past, present and future tense. Please take this opportunity to talk with your child about his or her past present and future self. For example, information about when your child was a baby, how they are now and how they will be in the future. This helps to put time into context that they can relate to. We will continue that at school as well.
pre-Kindergarten children will continue to work on sight words, writing their names, and identifying the letters in each word. We will also work on memory words such as writing recognizing and picking certain words out of a group of words. These guys are making such progress we are all amazed.
Happy Valentine’s day to you all. This is a wonderful time to talk about friendships and caring for each other with your children. We at Steele School consider ourselves to be so blessed with the friendships and great relationships we have here. We want you all to know we value you and your children.
