May Newsletter
From Lana
May Already???? This School year has flown by. It is wonderful to see the children enjoying the warm weather and the playground. As we move into even warmer weather please remember to send your children prepared to be outside that means jackets and sunscreen and sun hats.
Here are a few happenings and reminders:
Another reminder, for those of you who may have missed it, we can no longer accept American Express cards for payment. Their rates have risen so much that we are no longer able to work with them.
I need your help. As we enter the next 2 months we will be expecting our annual visit from state licensing. We have always been very proud of the fact that we do not violate any regulations and as a result I am working to see that all my records and paperwork is in order. This is where I need your help.
I have recently circulated physical and shot record reminders. I will need all those back just as soon as possible. If you are unable to get an appointment please leave me a note as to when your appointment is.
Happy Mother’s Day! On Friday May 9th we will be honoring the mothers at this center with treats at the end of the day. We appreciate you and we know how difficult it can be to work and be a super mom.
Summer camp. If you have older children who will be joining us for the summer please stop in and let me know. I am working on a summer schedule with field trips we can walk to and lots of time at the park to play and picnic. Schedule will be ready this month, we have somewhat limited space so let me know soon.
Infants: Ms. Paula
Welcome to May! My first week here at Steele School has been wonderful, meeting the parents and their little ones. I am enjoying every moment getting to know the babies, and the babies and parents getting to know me. This month we will be observing what happens in the springtime.
Elias is well on his way to take his first steps; Jaxson is working at learning to scoot. Everett is learning to blow kisses to his friends. Luke is sitting up for longer periods of time and Liam is now pulling himself up and trying to stand alone. Shawna is now sitting up for longer periods of time and is very interactive with everyone.
As the weather changes please check your child’s cubby for cooler clothes and remember to bring sun screen and a sun hat for when we go outside, remember to label with your child’s name.
This month we will also be working on developmental milestones.
Toddlers: Ms. Mariah Ms. Vie Ms. Moya Ms Felicia Ms. Krista
We had so much fun last month learning about the signs of spring! From playing in the dirt to painting with mud. This month we will be learning about baby animals, another sign of spring. It’s getting hotter and we will be spending more time outside. Please make sure your child has sunscreen and weather appropriate extra clothes.
Preschool: Ms. Lapina
I can’t believe the end of the school year is upon us. We have learned a lot and have grown so fast this year We are so proud of Eleanor and Diego as they will move on to Kindergarten. As we finish up the school year we will be focusing on our class garden and transplanting our sprouts outside. We will continue on with our “Taking care of the Planet” theme as we sing and dance our way through spring. Keep an eye out for some of the fun activities we have planned for the summer. Much love, Andrea
UPDATE ON MS. MELANIE AND MS. FELICIA
I know there have been many questions about Melanie and Felicia’s condition. Of course we don’t know everything but this is what we do know.
Ms. Melanie suffered a pulled muscle that has proven to be more troublesom than thought. She is working hard with physical therapy and misses the babies very much. She reports that not a single day goes by that she doesn’t think about them and miss them.
No word yet about Felicia , she fell and injured her back. As we get more informaion about her condition or about when Melanie and Felicia will return we will let you know.
Note: May 3—9, 2014 is Teacher Appreciation Week.
